Baskin-Robbins App.

iOS and Android mobile app for the historic worldwide ice cream brand

Project Details

Baskin-Robbins approached my team at Digitas with a problem: build them their first ever mobile app. In their quick-service-restaurant peer group, they were a leader in many ways. But the absense of a great customer-centered mobile app was a clear gap that they were ready to tackle.

Through an agile design sprint process we produced designs for a core feature set that would get them to a proper MVP and initial launch. We also crafted a compelling presentation to help our clients socialize and get buy-in for the design across all other sides of the business (including a board of skeptical franchisees).

We incorporated high-fidelity prototyping with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as part of our process in order to properly work out all facets of the designs—including visual design, UI transitions, screen transitions, micro-interactions, bespoke UI elements, and more. This made a massive difference in short-cutting the team to the very best solutions, since no details was being either overlooked or debated in the abstract.

When the app launched in the summer of 2016, Apple's app store editors liked it so much that they blessed it with their coveted 'App Store Editors' Note' and a feature in their 'New Apps We Love' promotional feed.
